What's Your Weather?

From rainy and blustery, to sunny and hot, the weather outside our doors dictates what we wear, where we go and what we do! Weather is a condition of the sky and air at a particular time that includes sunshine, cloud coverage, temperature, wind and precipitation. Scientists collect weather data over time in order to best predict what the weather will be like in the future. Using weather data collected over long periods of time, scientists are able to describe an area’s overall climate or the general weather conditions over a long period of time.  This includes seasonal changes in weather conditions. There are a variety of factors that contribute to an area’s climate including latitude, elevation, topography and more! In this activity, students will analyze, interpret and compare both weather and locational data over time to explain the climate patterns of Phoenix and Flagstaff.
