Reach for Your Resources!

Just like humans, the animals and plants around us are hungry... hungry for energy! The source of most of the energy on Earth comes directly from the Sun. While animals eat plants or other animals for food as their energy sources, plants use the light from the Sun to make their own source of food to get the energy they need to grow and survive. Since animals depend on plants or other animals for food, they use their senses to find resources such as food and water and their body parts to gather, catch, chew, and eat food sources. In this lesson, students will engage in a card-sort activity to explain how organisms obtain the resources they need from their environment.
