Exploring Caves

Earth’s major systems are the geosphere (solid/molten rock, soil and sediments), hydrosphere (water and ice), atmosphere (air), and biosphere (all living things). These systems interact in multiple ways to affect Earth’s surface materials and processes. Use this handout to help set up the investigation where you will explore how the hydrosphere and the geosphere interact to create cave structures as water from Earth’s hydrosphere dissolves materials from the Earth’s geosphere.
